The other day, the first time I saw this coat, my immediate thought was “why on Earth had ZARA put a coat on the rails considering we’re on the brink of summer” but when I tried it on with my jeans and a cotton t-shirt, I realized why. The faux suede was thin enough to wear during Cape Town’s bipolar weather episodes (when I took these photos yesterday, the fog was laying heavy on myself and Zain despite the Southern Suburbs being sunny) and it’s perfect to wear on those odd windy summer nights.
In terms of the colours, this mustard colour is beauty personified and I felt like I could only do it justice by pairing it with pieces that were equally as beautiful but more under-stated, giving the coat the pedestal it deserves. The t-shirt is a men’s one, with a yellow tiger as an embroidered appliqué with the writing “L’Aveugle Par Amour” which translates from French to “Love is blind” in English. I found it to suit the coat and the leather skirt perfectly, in terms of colour and fit alike.
The sneakers, bag and sunglasses are my general wardrobe staples, meaning that they are styled easily with most of my clothes and I can basically wear them with everything. I haven’t worn the shoes as often as I would like yet, mainly because I don’t want them to get too dirty or scuffed and the last thing I need is for my anxiety levels to go off the roof (as usual!).
So, I hope everyone has a lovely week ahead, filled with happiness and love!
