A s a personal style writer (or blogger, if you’d like), remaining inspired is a source of oxygen for my work. Inspiration can come from the unlikeliest places such as a walk around your neighbourhood or a trip to the beach but I’m always inspired by Fashion Week.
However, Fashion Week inspiration to me is not just the clothing on the runway; it’s the clothing worn by the attendees, the street style that saturates the streets of Paris, Milan, New York and of course, Cape Town/Johannesburg. I really appreciate “effortless” style and I love to see that on the streets of these major cities around Europe and South Africa.
When I’m scrolling through the likes of Pinterest or Elle.co.za, I love the variety of style that takes the seats of the shows – there are people in bright bomber jackets, big coats, sweatpants, oversized jumpers, detailed dresses, high-end pieces and non high-end pieces… the list is endless.
The outfit in this post is what I would wear to Fashion Week – it’s on trend with the plaid but I’ve made it my own by incorporating a hoodie and sneakers. Incorporating those two items help break the plaid apart but the plaid still remains the hero of the look
Here’s a look into what I’m referring to:
