Life Update

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”

This is quite the overdue hello but hello nonetheless! It's been months (over 6 months, if I'm not mistaken) since I've spent some good, quality time on the site but I'm back and with a purpose. I decided to take a break from IW because it wasn't a priority in my life during this year. I had many career responsibilities that I needed to take care of (which took up the majority of my time) and I needed time to reflect on my future and what I envision myself doing for the rest of my life. I studied Journalism so I briefly worked in the magazine industry this year (I'm also currently freelancing as a writer) but I felt that I needed more... something more stimulating and exciting.

After much thought and a flurry of "what if" moments, I decided that there was no time like the present to reach for the stars and to follow my passion. Before I get into my plans, I just want to mention how grateful I am to be surrounded by people who support me and the decisions that I make, and who see my vision and potential. I think that having such a strong support system makes you less fearful of the unknown and gives you a much-needed bout of confidence.

So back to the point, I've decided to start my own business. Although I enjoy writing and documenting my personal style (plus working with incredible brands who I choose wisely), I felt that, at this point in my life, that I have the opportunity to pursue entrepreneurship. I'm well-aware of the hardships and challenges that come with starting your own business but I truly feel that it's the right thing for me. (I also have so much respect for small businesses and small business owners.)

The biggest decision of my life thus far has been choosing to become a small business owner.

Entrepreneurship runs in my blood especially from my dad. My dad is extremely smart when it comes to running a business and the logistics behind owning your own company. Some things hasn't gone his way (like what happens to many businesses) but his achievements outweigh that in abundance. I'm more secure in starting my brand because I have him on my side and knowing that I can approach him for advice or to educate me on certain business principles brings me so much comfort.

I don't want to give too much away on my plans but the business is going to be garment-based. I want to be the founder of a brand that represents comfort, quality and a supporter of local resources and skills. If I achieve that, then I will be one happy lady.

That's a small update on where I've been and what I've been up to - I'll continue to keep you updated. I want to document the journey of starting a brand from scratch; the lows and the highs. But good news! IW has gotten a rebrand (I hope that you all love the new website!) There's a new SHOP page which is called "Shop The Fit" where I'll be adding items for you to shop directly from my website.

Although my focus has shifted, I still enjoy updating the site. It'll still be just a hobby (as it has always been) and I'll forever be grateful to everyone who continues to support me on a number of platforms and for always being so kind and generous with the love.

Hope you all have a blessed and wonderful New Year.
