If ever I’ve needed a quick on-the-go snack in the mornings or a pick-me-up during the day, I whip up a smoothie. Packed with my favourite fruits and flavours, it tends to tide me over until I get to indulge in a proper meal.
While the traditional smoothie has deservedly stood the test of time, its sibling – the smoothie bowl, has simultaneously become widely popular and Instagram-worthy. It’s just like your favourite smoothie but thicker, served in a bowl and covered with toppings of your choice.
This morning, I had some free time to adapt my go-to smoothie into a beautiful (and delicious) bowl.
2 frozen bananas
1 tsp of peanut butter
2 tbsp of chocolate whey protein powder
1/4 – 1/2 cup of milk (normal milk, almond milk or any milk of your choice)
1 tsp of cocoa
(You can add any topping to this: granola, cacao nibs, coconut etc.)
Simply blend all the ingredients together (adding the milk in last for easy pouring to get the right thick consistency) and transfer the mixture to a bowl. Sprinkle with your favourite topping and enjoy!
Just a few notes:
- I left the bananas out of the freezer for 10 minutes before using them.
- I used a stick blender to blend the ingredients together but a normal blender or NutriBullet would do just fine.
